OUR MISSION

Lee County Democratic Black Caucus (LCDBC) was established to register more Black Democrats and to get more registered Black Democrats to vote in ALL elections.  When Blacks vote in large numbers, Democrats WIN!  Democrats work to create policies, laws, and programs to help people.  LCDBC is working to address the interests of the neglected Black citizens of Lee County.  Presently, we are working to disseminate voter education information and encourage voter registration.  Any Democrat registered in Lee County can join LCDBC and we invite like-minded Democrats to join our efforts.  

Moreover, we endeavor to support all elected and appointed Democratic officials throughout the state of Florida, and support the candidacies of Black Democrats in Lee County.

OBJECTIVES       

  • To stimulate a participating interest in public affairs that will foster better and more representative government.
  • To increase the political power and influence of Black Democrats within the Democratic Party of Florida.
  • To unite the Black Democrats in the State of Florida.
  • To promote the principles of the Democratic Party at all levels.
  • To support and solicit support for legislation and governmental action on a national, state, county and local level, reflecting the interest of the people in the respective area.
  • To take such action deemed necessary to affect the above objectives.
The aspiration of the Lee County Democratic Black Caucus is to develop our membership and leadership team to successfully accomplish our progressive goals and objectives.

history

Black delegates attending a 1981 Florida State Democratic Party Convention in Hollywood, Florida responded to a need for increasing the power and influence of Black Democrats within the party. A decision was made at the Convention to unite Black Democrats throughout the state. As a result of their efforts, on September 24, 1983 the Democratic Black Caucus of Florida was organized and recognized by the Florida Democratic Party as an official affiliate organization.

When you become a member of the Lee County Democratic Black Caucus, you’ll have a resource for information on important public policy issues that affect your future. Our meetings are open to all Democrats and provide a chance to interact and learn about political and legislative issues affecting you and the Black community. You will have the opportunity to meet periodically with elected officials and other political leaders, actively exchange ideas and perspectives, and educate them about the needs of our community. In addition, as a member, you will receive communications that provide you with up to date information on local, state and national issues affecting the Black community.
